ABOUT

My name is Kushreet Pannu, and I am a first-generation Punjabi American in Northern California. As an artist, I enjoy exploring various mediums, including henna, embroidery, painting, and dance. Embracing my cultural roots adds richness and depth to my artistic expression.

With the platform I have, my ultimate goal is to ignite a sense of passion within others like me. I encourage learning about and connecting to the roots of our culture. My ultimate goal is to be a resource for anyone trying to learn giddha or boliyan.

ABOUT THE FOUNDER…

ABOUT THE ART…

Henna is an art form dating back centuries, originating from south east Asia. It is typically applied in celebration of weddings, religious holidays, or even just for fun as a form of decoration! Henna powder is made by the leaves of the Lawsonia inermis tree. The leaves are crushed and sifted multiple times, and then mixed with water and essential oils to create a creamy paste. This paste is applied to the skin, left on for a few hours and then removed. It leaves behind a rich, dark red stain on the skin which lasts up to two weeks!
